Kavinace is an amino acid approach to brain nutrition supplementation designed to assist with sleep problems, anxiousness and stress. The description of this supplement states that it is able to deliver on the advertised benefits by supporting optimum GABA levels, the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter. The formula offered by NeuroScience contains a derivative of this naturally occurring neurotransmitter, known as Phenibut, which can easily cross the blood brain barrier to produce the wanted effects.

Is Kavinace Right For You?

Kavinace is an amino acid approach to brain nutrition supplementation that is advertised to be able to promote sleep and reduce stress and anxiousness by supporting proper GABA levels. The company behind this product is NeuroScience.

The company specializes in neurotransmitter clinical research and the development of medical programs for some of today’s most challenging health conditions. The company's product portfolio features several best sellers such as Travacor, Adrecor, Calm-PRT, Kavinace, Serene, LoraQuil, or GabaMax.

We were unable to find a dedicated website for the manufacturer, which, in an era where online presence is essential for any business, can be regarded as a shortcoming. Nonetheless, the reputation of the manufacturer and its good practices are a direct consequence of the positive image its numerous premium formulations hold among consumers.

The company claims this product is one of their best calming supplements. The manufacturer states that Kavinace is uniquely designed to enhance GABAA and GABAB receptor function, as well as promote healthy GABA levels.

According to the company, this formulation is different from traditional GABA supplementation, however no arguments are offered to support this claim. The key ingredient, 4-amino-3pghenylbutyric acid, can easily cross the blood-brain barrier and acts like a GABA agonist.

Ingredients of Kavinace

Kavinace includes the following ingredients: Proprietary blend (Taurine and 4-amino-3-phenylbutyric acid), Microcrystalline Cellulose, Vegetable Cellulose and Magnesium stearate.

I was on cymbalta to help with nerve pain, and when I got off of it, I couldn’t sleep well after that. I tried everything and finally someone told me about Kavinace PM. It works like a charm. I sort of have a hard time getting up in the morning, but it’s not too bad. I would rather feel well rested and a little groggy than not rested at all, which was miserable. I’m trying to figure out what to do from here because I would like to get pregnant again and want to stop taking it. I typically take one pill a night, but every now and again I don’t need it. Any suggestions for getting off of it and being able to sleep? Ha!

I sleep like a log for about 9-10 hours and I wake up sluggish so two weeks ago I put my alarm clock for 7 am and I exercised feeling energized after that and then I took 1 cup of coffee . Because I am anxious a doctor recommended me to take Kavinace and after seeing your comments I believe if I take it I would sleep all day and all night, so I am not going to take it because I don’t need to sleep more.
So, I am going to continue controlling my sleep, 7 hours is just fine for me and I am energized and less anxious during the day. Sleeping like I was doing for 9-10 hours is debilitating to the brain and the body.
thanks for listening.

Thank you so much for your posting on the addictive properties of Kavinace. Starting about six months ago, I took Kavince (one pill) for sleep disturbance and more recently took Kavinace ultra pm for same as it has melatonin and 5 htp in it, which I was taking anyway. All in one, great huh? Well, not so great as only recently have begun to experience queasy feelings in the afternoon, even after a good night’s sleep. Very difficult to describe but just not like myself. I am normally a high energy person and I felt lethargic, strange, etc. I stopped taking Kavinace three days ago and am experiencing what I can only describe as “withdrawal.” Back to the melatonin and 5 htp, old amino acid friends, sleeping even better now.

I have used Kavinace Ultra PM for a couple of years now. Nothing else worked. The prescription drugs made me feel too awful the next day, so I stopped taking any of them. Kavinace Ultra PM was like a miracle at the beginning but with the continued use, I can have a poor sleep night now & then even when taking it. However, overall, I don’t have weeks of mostly sleepless nights like I use to before K.U.P.M. Recently, I ‘ve noticed some stomach acid after taking one some nights, so I have eaten something after taking the pill. Has anyone else had that problem?

Hrh December 23, 2014 at 2:42 PM

Yes, I have noticed the stomach acid after taking it too. It’s not all the time, but sometimes. I have been taking it for years and am worried that I am dependant on it. It looses its effectiveness after about 3 weeks. I take a break for a few nights; either I don’t sleep well or I take an Ambian for a couple of nights then go back to kavinace pm. I wish I could sleep unaided.

I had been on Alprazolam for over 41/2 years, but was able to stop taking it altogether. Thanks to replacing it with Kavinace.Just one in the morning & one before bed

Natalie November 12, 2014 at 7:51 PM

Would you please share your experience stopping Alprazolam with the help of Kavinance?
I really appreciate it!!!

Thank you!

NeuroScience company does have a web site – neurorelief.com
I don’t work for them nor do I wish to promote them; just providing information missing from your article. No need to post my review. But I am happy with how Kavinace works for me.

I started taking Kavinace a few months ago, on and off every week to help get through the night after a pelvic fracture. It helped me sleep very deeply, both at night and during long daytime naps. I’ve actually never been able to nap so well. But recently (I’ve taken it twice in two weeks) if I take one Kavinace and don’t fall asleep right away, I start to feel like I can’t breathe. My body is trying to relax into a deeper state and sometimes I even feel a strange “thump” like an arrhythmia, and then my breathing is just heavy and slow. Eventually I fall asleep and have a wonderful, deep night’s rest, but the period before falling asleep is alarming and I don’t think I’ll take it again since it seems to be disturbing my heart and breathing rhythms. Anyone else have this?

Sabine December 22, 2014 at 3:09 AM

From what I’ve read about the main ingredient, “Phenibut” it is the cause of those symptoms you are having. I started having similar effects — like I couldn’t catch my breath (even as I was trying to fall asleep), and also the irregular heartbeats. That’s when I researched this product that I had been told is safe and learned that people can develop a dependency on it and that the withdrawal effects can be terrible (and maybe even dangerous, if you try to stop cold-turkey).

Barbara Adams July 6, 2014 at 12:50 AM

Kavinace made me sleep like a baby, BUT I felt drunk and unable to focus during the day. I took it for three nights and the fourth night I took it and could not sleep at all. I had the usual racing thoughts. I stopped taking Kavinace and it took me a week to feel normal and focused again.

I’ve struggled with sleep issues my entire life. Recently diagnosed with RLS, PLMD’s and sleep apnea. Was on medication to calm the RLS and PLMD’s which was then exaggerated by the CPAP. On the suggestion of a local homeopathic pharmacy I tried the Kavinace PM supplement and not only did it help me sleep, it reduced my glucose levels which were all out of whack because of my sleep issues, it also helped the RLS. I am no longer taking the prescription meds for the RLS. I am grateful for stumbling onto the Kavinace PM. It may not work for everyone, but again everyone’s sleep issues are not the same.

Michael June 19, 2014 at 3:50 AM

This works. I have anxiety and panic disorder, and all the typical symptoms (irritability etc) and just one pill can significantly reduce my symptoms. Phenibut is real, is a prescription drug in russia, and works well. However, one can be dependent on it, and you shouldn’t take it for extended periods of time.

Lisa June 11, 2014 at 1:25 PM

I use Kavinace as prescribed by my doctor. I am dealing with peri-menopause and battling with related symptoms including shaking and insomnia. I get wonderful results. It reduces my shaking, calms my brain and helps me sleep. I highly recommend it and love that it’s not a drug.

Sabine December 22, 2014 at 3:04 AM

Kavinace IS a drug! Google “Phenibut” (the main ingredient) and “withdrawal” or “addiction.” I have been taking it five months at my naturopath’s recommendation and developed a tolerance to it and had to increase my dose. Now I am facing withdrawal symptoms to quit taking it. From what I’m reading, it’s not safe to stop cold turkey. It is similar to Benzos from what I’m reading. It is only for occasional use, but most of us were/are taking it every night. I’m very concerned that info about the addictive nature of this supplement is not offered more freely by its manufacturer. If I’m reading the info about its addictiveness incorrectly, feel free to let me know.

Danielle May 9, 2014 at 4:47 PM

I have been taking it as recommended but I feel out of it. I have just started taking it….does that have something to do with it? Maybe I should only take one pill a day and not two? Any advice?

some random bob April 10, 2014 at 5:14 AM

Got sick once and couldn’t sleep very well ever since. I kept waking every hour or so every night so my doctor had me try kavinace ultra pm and it works so well.

Jaque April 3, 2014 at 9:46 PM

Excellent!, I believe all things do not have the same effect for all people. I was never a user of drugs except tylenol or aspirin for an occasional headache. I began taking phentermine for weight loss, Kavinace tkes me down from the phentermine “speed” high and I sleep like a baby. I found out the way to clear phentermine from the body is to use caffeine or amino acids. This works.

Kandace March 30, 2014 at 5:45 AM

I have suffered from insomnia related to Fibromyalgia for years. My physician had me try Kavinace Ultra Pm. It is amazing. I have tried everything out there .
I have been taking it for over a year now and it is a Godsend.
I feel calm and well rested when I wake up.completely natural and no side effects. Should invest money in this company.

Carlos February 4, 2014 at 4:40 PM

Kavinace Ultra works like a charm. Last night, for example, I got almost ten hours of sleep!

Patty January 17, 2014 at 3:39 AM

I have been using it for about a year. I sometimes take it to get a good, restful night sleep, and it always works. It is also great for panic disorder and anxiety. I have my children take it when they feel anxious or just have trouble sleeping. It’s a great product, we don’t take it everyday, but maybe once or twice a week. I highly recommend it.

Laura Z January 14, 2014 at 7:57 PM

I’ve been struggling with insomnia that has gotten progressively worse over the years. I tried so many natural supplements that didn’t work that I finally went on Trazadone which really helped me sleep, but gave me horrible dreams and then headaches after taking it for a few months. I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks and so far, aside from one night, I’m sleeping great. I hope this keeps up. I would definitely recommend trying it.

Karen December 1, 2013 at 3:49 PM

I have been taking Kavinace Ultra PM for over a year. The first time I took it was on vacation and slept for over 10 hours without waking up and that was in a hotel. I have not had a good nights rest in a very long time. It works really well for me. I wake up feeling really refreshed and well rested. I hate the price but make some sacrifices to purchase it.

Kelly November 26, 2013 at 2:56 AM

Hey I’ve been taking this stuff for like two years I have horrible insomnia and I’m 15 is that safe. I take two a night and can’t sleep with out it. My doctor recommended it to me but I don’t know lately I’ve just been worried about its long term effects.

ericd October 21, 2014 at 12:27 AM

Are you still taking this & what did your doctor say about 2/Night? Have you had any nightmares?

Maddie August 29, 2013 at 8:57 AM

I’m 15 years old, and I have major depression and anxiety disorder. Whenever I get into a panic attack I take a kavinace and although it may take a minute, it works wonders. It calms me down, gets me back to normal, and I usually have a better night’s sleep.

Jelly June 23, 2013 at 9:54 PM

Kavinace is one of the five supplements that my parents insisted I should take during the school year. Little do they know it was the only one I took. Partly because I though taking five different pills is insane, but also because I felt Kavinace was good enough for me. I had a perfect year with no incidents.

Eden June 11, 2013 at 6:13 PM

The lack of sleeping is becoming an issue lately, because it really affects my performance at work and also my nerves. Kavinace has helped me with the sleeping problem and also the other unwanted effects has all go away. Thanks!

Monica June 9, 2013 at 5:39 PM

This is a great formula for sleep. I sleep like a baby and I feel more energized during the day and ready to face whatever comes along. My levels of anxiety decreased and I feel calmer and happier.

Donovan June 2, 2013 at 6:00 AM

As a sleep aid it is one of the most effective supplements near this price point. I have tried many other and I can say for sure that you can find none better. It also has other good effects like making yo more relaxed during the day.

Kevin April 30, 2013 at 12:52 PM

I used to have trouble sleeping every night. When I got into be I was unable to keep my eyes closed and I would twist and turn for a few hours before I could fall asleep. Kavinace has changed that a lot and now I fall asleep in less than half an hour.

Dean April 21, 2013 at 8:21 PM

I have fought anxiety for more than a year before taking Kavinace. I have jumped from prescription drugs to natural remedies and back and forth a couple of times because of side effects and lack of effectiveness. Kavinace however did it for me. I am well enough to deal with anxiety myself and I don’t feel like a walking corpse either. Marvelous.

Darrell April 14, 2013 at 11:21 AM

I started getting anxious when I started to hold presentations during college. Back then I used to take very potent drugs to calm me down but that turned me into a zombie. Nowadays I take Kavinace when I need to relieve anxiety and I don’t have to worry about any side effects.

Sean April 7, 2013 at 3:47 PM

I don’t take supplements, but my sister recommended this to me and it’s been quite a good month for me. I don’t know if I’ll continue because the price is pretty high, but It’s an ok product and you may consider giving it a try.

Aaron March 30, 2013 at 9:51 AM

Damn this is expensive. I’m lucky my parents got if for me. The product itself is very potent and has a very fast onset when compared to other similar products. I used it successfully every single time and I recommend it if you can take the cost.

Brendon March 24, 2013 at 5:10 PM

My colleagues basically force fed my Kavinace because I was always shouting at them randomly over the most trivial stuff. I didn’t think it will work but I did not want to argue with them any more. In the end, I calmed enough for them to be satisfied, although I wish It was a little more potent.

Trey March 17, 2013 at 7:38 PM

Sleeping aids have been for me kind of a “love it or hate it” affair. Despite similar ingredients and concentrations, some have provided adequate relief, some had no effects. Kavinace not only does work exactly as it should, it also maintains its effects over a long period of time. So far it;s the best I’ve tried and I see no reason for trying something else.

kibby December 24, 2014 at 1:41 PM

I have been taking one in am and one in pm and feel very stable and level and the mega-stress I’ve been experiencing is certainly under control, BUT I have noticed a decline in my memory – like it’s sluggish and slow. I’m thinking perhaps the relaxing the pill does to me is also relaxing the memory part of my brain?? Has anyone else experienced this over time? I’m not on much other suppliments and no meds so I can honestly attribute the memory loss to this at least in my way of thinking.. Also, I have had stomach upset in the night come to think of it..

Grayson March 9, 2013 at 9:06 PM

It did help me sleep too! And a lot quicker than other stuff I’ve taken. I recommend it!

Collin S. March 3, 2013 at 3:18 PM

It’s quite good at relieving anxiety and it also helps me sleep. It’s an ok product, i recommend it.

Tony B. February 22, 2013 at 12:44 PM

With Kavinace, I get a restful night’s sleep which allows me to better focus on my work during the day. I only take the pills in the evening because they make me drowsy.

J. Reagan February 14, 2013 at 10:32 AM

I ordered Kavinace because I was tired of the side effects of other drugs, stomach upsets, dry mouth… I don’t think it’s as potent as other pills I have tried, but I intend to keep taking it nonetheless.

Karen November 22, 2011 at 3:48 AM

I use this after a super stressful day and when I know I’m going to have trouble sleeping. I take 1 tablet on an empty stomach 20 to 30 minutes before going to bed and I sleep great without any side effects. I don’t have chronic sleep problems or tons of anxiety so for me, this works as a good supplement when things get crazy.

sleeplikeababy November 20, 2011 at 4:37 PM

This product really works for me! I get a quality restful sleep and go to work in a good mood!

berly October 5, 2011 at 1:23 AM

This product works for me. It solved my insomnia and occasional anxiety.

needsleepbob May 12, 2011 at 5:46 PM

This helped me to get extra sleep once I started to take it each day. You need to wait a week for it to kick in but after that you should get the same results as me.

denn February 12, 2011 at 5:44 PM

I wish I had read the review above before I order this from the internet. I think I would have thought twice about getting it. I like the review you posted and it makes sense to me. I will read more of what you recommend and see what best fits my needs.

Patti Melfi November 25, 2013 at 11:01 AM

It does work, I hope by now you have had success!

carman September 12, 2010 at 5:43 PM

I am a real nervous persona and always needed to have something to calm me. I am thru with the doctors drugs so I hope this helps.

Pamela H August 21, 2010 at 5:42 PM

This actually works – maybe not for all you people, but it does for me. Give it a try and see.

Tracy May 12, 2010 at 5:41 PM

I go this supplement since it said it would promote sleep and reduce anxiousness. This is what I really want but I want left with these things. I think I wasted my money on this one.

ALN October 9, 2013 at 10:56 AM

Tracy. Try getting a sample pack of each Travacor and Nuvoxil. Both excellent for sleep.
